Naringenin (CAS: 480-41-1) is a natural flavanone aglycone belonging to the flavonoid family. It is made from grapefruit peel (Citrus paradisi) by breaking down the naringin with enzymes or acidic water.

Naringenin does not have a sugar moiety like naringin, which is the glycoside precursor. This makes it better soluble in lipids and more readily absorbed by the intestinal wall, which is highly useful for bioactive formulations.

The extract that is made is purified by way of column chromatography or recrystallisation to obtain the required 90% purity grade. The completed product is then either spray dried or crystallised before being processed so that all the particles are of the same size.

Each batch is quality controlled in-house including HPLC assay, moisture, heavy metals and microorganisms before being packaged. 25 kg per unit packed in double-layer PE bags within fibre drums, sealed items.
