Полифеноли от екстракт от зелен чай is a concentrated fraction of bioactive catechins obtained from Camellia sinensis leaves by controlled extraction and purification. The extract is a brown-red fine powder. It has a high content of flavan-3-ols, mainly Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), Epicatechin gallate (ECG), Epigallocatechin (EGC) and Epicatechin (EC).

This material provides a standardised potency of 98% total polyphenols (UV technique) unlike regular tea granules. It is extremely soluble in water, ethanol and ethyl acetate, making it appropriate for both aqueous and organic formulations.

It also offers a crucial economic advantage: thanks to its superior decaffeination processing, the caffeine levels are below 0.5%, making it appropriate for stimulant-sensitive consumers and clean-label product lines.

1. Selection of raw materials - fresh green tea leaves from our monitored cultivation base, tested for pesticides before processing

2. Water/Ethanol Extraction — Solvent ratio optimised for highest production of catechins

3. Filtration & Concentration — Membrane filtration and vacuum concentration

4. Purification – Resin adsorption columns to selectively enrich polyphenols and eliminate contaminants including caffeine.

5. Spray Drying – Controlled temperature spray drying to maintain catechin integrity

6. QC Testing – Full HPLC, UV, heavy metal, microbiological and pesticide testing prior to release

Functional Food & Clean-Label Preservation

The extract inhibits hexanal production and rancidity at 200–500 ppm concentrations in high-fat matrices such as fish oil, edible oils and fried snack products and performs better than BHT and TBHQ at industrial frying temperatures.

Nutraceuticals-Cardiovascular & Weight Management

High-EGCG grades (90%+) are often employed in metabolic and thermogenic tablet and capsule formulas. For increased bioavailability, formulators often combine the extract with piperine or employ phospholipid complexes. Accurate bulk density standards allow for uniform filling of capsules.

Cosmeceuticals – Anti-Ageing & Skin Protection

The extract reduces UV-induced free radical chains and MMP activity in serums and day creams. To avoid the typical browning oxidation reaction in emulsions, keep the pH of the formulation between 4.0 and 5.0, use encapsulating technologies and include chelating agents, such as gluconate, to sequester metal ions.

Q1: Why do UV and HPLC polyphenol test results differ?

A: UV is the total absorbance of phenolic rings in all substances. HPLC can detect and quantify each catechin specifically. If you buy a high purity 98% grade then always ask for the HPLC results to verify the actual EGCG concentration.

Q2: Why does my liquid formulation change colour with time?

A: Under alkaline conditions and in the presence of metal ions , the polyphenols oxidise to form brown theaflavin molecules . Maintain pH < 5.0. Add chelating agents (such as gluconate). Use opaque or UV-blocking packaging.

Q3: How can I determine the EGCG content from a 98% total polyphenol extract?

A: There is no fixed conversion ratio, it is determined by the crop and the batch of extraction. As a general comparison, a 98% total polyphenol (UV) extract generally includes about 45–50% EGCG (HPLC). Always verify by HPLC for clinical or efficacy purposes.

Q4: Is this extract suitable for baking?

A: Yes. The extract has a moderate thermal stability and the antioxidant activity was mostly preserved over the usual times of baking even at temperatures higher than 180 °C. Encapsulation is indicated to limit contact with gluten proteins and to minimise flavour influence.

Q5: How do you comply with EU pesticide regulations?

A: Standard tea extracts may not be compliant with the EU MRLs in EC 396/2005. We deliver individual batches processed by resin adsorption or supercritical CO₂ processes to selectively remove pesticide residues, maintaining the polyphenol profile. When ordering, request documentation in compliance with EC 396/2005.

Q6: What is the correct storage environment to sustain 24 month shelf life?

A: Store in sealed airtight containers, protected from light and moisture, below 25° C. Do not open and reseal. These conditions apply to large barrels as well as to smaller sample packs.
